This started as an experiment to see what clay would do when draped over a piece of PVC. The silhouette and curve looked a bit like a mailbox, but it was flipped over and details and a raised foot were added. That lid just wins the show! There are a few thin cracks in the glaze (cosmetic, not structural), so we took inspiration from the Japanese art of kintsugi and added real gold to celebrate the little imperfections of hand-crafted work.
